Hotel helps with control efforts

On March 2nd a team from the Hotel de Montaña el Pelicano joined forces to help control the forest fire burning in the southern section of Chirripo National Park; this fire consumed over 150 hectares and is possibly due to crimial negligence.

A second effort to control the fire was made on the 14th of March in an effort to support the brigades in mop up of embers, an action vital to the total extiction of the fire.

The forest fire this year was particularly difficult to control due to the area of difficult access, extra dry vegetation, the steepness and relief of the terrain and the strong winds.  These factors contributed to the destruction of sections of Primary Forest, an valuable biological ecosystem that is irrepairable.

This is the second time the Hotel el Pelicano has participated in mitigation efforts, the first time was in 1992.

The team from our Hotel was formed by our own General Manager, Omar Elizondo Martinez along with colaborators, Grevin Urenña Elizondo, Denis Elizondo Elizondo, Fredy Elizondo Martinez and David Elizondo Martinez.

It is important to condem and denounce any action which may cause a  forest fire in any area of our country.

Heredia Hace 15 años conocí este lugar y quede enamorada. Realmente es un paraíso. Recuerdo con mucho cariño a la Familia Elizondo. Espero volver antes que termine el año, esta vez con mis hijas. Les envío un gran abrazo.
