Elevation:  up to 1,900 meters above sea level

 

This species of hummingbird is common in Costa Rica due to it's wide distribution.

Very aggressive and dominant.

Like other hummingbirds this species feeds on nectar and compliments it's diet with some ants.

Reproduction period is varied; from May to January on the Pacific Coast and October to June on the Carribbean Coast.
