This species can be seen in the area along the Chirripó River in San Gerardo, Rio Blanco in Herradura, and the Talari River in Los Angeles.

Defends territorial lines over the river.

Poses on rocks, moving it's tail searching for prey on the rocks, or by partly entering the water; can swim well in search of aquatic insects.

Lives in pairs.
